How do I copy/make a backup disc of a large and very important programme I have on my PC?
If I go to the control panel and choose programs and features, it says i can uninstall/change it but that sounds too dangerous to me. I'd hate to lose it. Thanks

are you putting it onto a CD-ROM or a memory stick? I only ask because these are on different drives in your computer.

When I do this I put the stick or CD in this computer, open the document on the computer then click "Save As". You can then search for the drive where your storage is, D or E or... one of mine comes up as L drive, and save it there.

(I always save it back to the computer afterwards too, as if you click on the list of latest documents the next time you come on, it may otherwise be looking for the disk which may not be there that time if you have taken it out.)

I'm putting it on a DVD as it's 542MB. Is this alright? Surely if I open it and use "save as" I'll just be saving the current page and not the programme. It's Autocad and without it my husband can't open and read construction drawings
Autodesk have a free CAD reader you can download ...so yes, he can.
Sorry - I didn't read properly, I didn't appreciate you are saving a programme (I know you said so, my fault), I thought you meant a large document. Ignore me.
If you are trying to save a computer program that is already installed on your computer then you cant really do that.

If it is the program file BEFORE it is installed that is another matter.
You'll need to burn it to a DVD (though a CD will happily hold 524Mb). I'm not sure what software to recommend. I use BurnAware but there's literally hundres out there. Nero springs to mind.
