On another computer away from your home ie internet cafe, does it infect only the computer you use at the time leaving your computer safe or when you went home and then used your email address would the bugs etc.. still be able to come out of your computer after using your email address as a portal?

It will attack .. or try to attack the host pc.
Will only effect home pc if you run same process on it.
Having said that, adware 'could' steal your pass and email contact list .. and you will see activity from your home pc.
No - it gets stuck to your fingers and follows you home than as soon as you touch your keyboard, it gets in through the cracks.
Best take extra care with bottom-wiping, then.
