I have been with 02 for some time (love the free calls and texts to other 02 users) HOwever I have just got an iphone and found that all of a sudden my prepaid credit lasts 2 weeks instead of 6! It's the same 02 number and account (i simply put the old sim into the new iphone).

Could it be due to the iphone checking for mail and other updates when I am away from my usual wi-fi source?

Any tips would be really appreciated :-)

Check all the e-mail settings and so on as mine were all preset to check every hour which means it will connect to the internet every hour. Are you using a 3G sim card? If not, you will be paying to connect (unless through wifi) even if you are in a 3G area. You can get O2 to send you a free 3G sim with the same number.
if you have an iphone on o2, do you pay per month for your net access? if you don't then its blooming dear. The other thing is that when I got my DH an iphone, when we activated it, o2 accidentally put him on the business tarriff not the personal use one which blew his credit away within days...give o2 a call and ask them.
forgot to add that o2 were brilliant, switched the tarriff back and gave him back all the spent credit
There is an O2 pay as you go tariff where if you top up £10 a month you get 500mb of data and unlimited texts.

Give O2 a call and get put on the best tariff for you.
