I have worn them for the last 2 years but my recent experience of trying multifocal contacts made me realise that you get used to some compromises.
For example using a computer - the screen is right in front of you but if you look directly at it through the middle of the lenses the screen is out of focus. You have to tilt your head back and look down your nose so that you are using the bottom part of the lenses, and this position is not particularly natural nor comfortable for long periods of time.
And so over the last couple of years I had got used to using a part of the lens somewhere in between so that my head didn't need to be tilted back so much, but whilst the computer screen was legible it wasn't as sharply in focus as it could be. Once I realised this (just a month ago) I switched to using separate pairs of glasses, one for reading distances and one for everything beyond that, and don't regret the decision.

Um, thats what I was worried about the most bibble the computer work I do. when the optician was explaining the three different lenses. From what he was saying the intermediary lens would be the one I would use when on the computer but I need reading glasses for the PC....everything else sounds OK but this element might be a problem.....aas you say I'll keep my reading glasses for the PC and reading in bed, apparently they are good for that either. Micmak the optician did say if I can;t get used to them I have 30 days and they can be returned with my money returned. I suppose I cant lose really.
Thanks a lot for your responses. I think I'll go with them.

mazie, himself tried them earlier this year as he now needs specs for close work and distance, thought they would be the answer. WRONG. he had them for 3 weeks and just couldn't get along with them, made him feel sick and also affected his concentration. took them back to the optician who changed them for 2 separate pairs, all paid for via the opticians insurance so no further cost was incurred by us.
maybe worth asking your optician what happens if you don't get on with them, make sure you don't have to pay again if you don't like them.
