The Ed now has a new Avatar,
Which I think must be number 4.
If he keeps changing his mind,
I bet I'm left behind;
In trying to keep account of the score.

Morning Ron (and Viv)

Glad to see you're on form. Has anyone noticed our new "Public Service Announcements" yet?

Spare Ed
Have not noticed anything different Ed, same Ads as before..........
Is the hammer thingy a.... head hitter.... sorry couldn't resist
Public Service Announcements - ah yes. Fortunately there are add-ons in Firefox to get rid of all sorts of screen clutter.
So none of you see the grey "contact the editor" just above the orange "1 to 5 of 5" line on this screen?

Didn't think adblock would remove it.

Spare Ed
I can see it.
I see it too. It's stunning.
but Customise Your Web lets you get rid of any elements of the display for any or all pages in the site
And just clicked on it. That's a bit handier.
I've got it, Ed
I have also wondered why, when I have installed an ad-blocker, I have had several different 'things' in that space.

Do you mean that the techies are working out ways to 'get round' ad-blockers ?
A bit unfair, if they are...........
I can see it fine with ad-block enabled.
jack as I mentioned above, the add-on Customise Your Web lets you play around with the display, such as removing parts that you don't want to see or automatically clicking on a button just to get past an intermediate page that you can't avoid.
No, we're not trying to "get round" ad-blocker.

Not sure why it would be unfair though? Without users occasionally clicking an ad we go under and the site goes down - it is kind of important!

I will have a look at the page with adblocker to see if it can find out what you mean JTH.

Will also check out "Customise Your Web" - sounds interesting.

Spare Ed
it might help if I spelled the name right - it's customize with a Z not an S
Not a problem!

Spare Ed
Ed while your about, it seems that links in posts no longer open in a new tab as they used to.
Really? Oh dear. Thanks chuck - any examples to hand?

Like this:

Or This:

I have a feeling the techies made it different depending on whether the url was external or internal? I will pass it on Chuck.

Spare
So we have to click on Ads?
For me they both opened in a new window - but if the second was clicked it would replace the other open window. probably not what we want.

Spare
Hmm, in firefox they both opened in the same tab I'm using now, in IE they both opened an entirely new IE window.
