Since I bought my new PC 6 months ago with Windows Vista installed, I have had so many problems unlike I had with W-XP.
I was told today by one of PC Worlds staff that Vista are no longer going to give updates and gradually get rid of it as they have had to many complaints and going to concentrate on Windows 7.
I don't see why I should have to buy W/7 for about £85 because of their cock-up, anybody had the same problems?
Windows Vista will be supported by Microsoft for many years to come. They will gradually stop supporting it just as they've stopped supporting Windows 98 but that time will be at least three to four years down the line.
However, that being said, I have to say that Windows 7 is a massive improvement on Vista – I know, as I run both operating systems on a dual boot system and Windows 7 is noticeably faster than Vista.
relatively new to Vista too.....
Just moved from XP as well so I sympathise with your teething problems (probably the same I went through).
I understand MS has extended support for XP for a few more years, so if they curtail support for Vista that would be an admission that Vista is cr@p? don't see that happening.
Seems obvious sales staff want you to buy 7, but you're right in sticking with what you've got for now........unless you're made of money.
Someone with real knowledge will be along shortly to correct me and put you right.
MarkRae - Wow! I'm shocked. I stand corrected. I'm surprised that they're stopping support in 2012. I honestly suspect that that date will be extended due to public pressure.
MarkRae – I'm not doubting you! I do think that Microsoft will revise the date though. They revised the date with Windows 98 and XP due to public pressure.
What Microsoft say they're going to do and what they actually do are often not the same thing!
The last time and only time I went to PC world was 2006, Stevenage Herts.
The shop floor was empty, no customers, no staff. I walked up to the counter and stood at the till. There was a glass walled section where everyone was busy doing nothing, I stared at them, they stared at me. I walked out.
They used to be useful about 10 years ago because they were open on a Sunday, but almost every other PC outlet is these days, so they have no use at all...
(You do appear quite knowledgeable in many areas on here especially in the technology forums, you sound like Trolly, Mark? You'll know who I'm referring to if you are him :-) )
