i know laptops heat up, but mine seems to get very hot...and so does the charger...

what is the normal average heat you should expect your laptop to get to?

body temperature? cup of tea hot? bath hot? lukewarm?

im concerned its faulty....i have told hp the serial number and they confirmed that it is NOT one the ones recently recalled due to an over heating problem

thanks

Two questions: 1 do you use it on a soft surface (eg. bed/padded furniture) because that will stifle the fan 2 can you hear the fan working?
It could be the fan packed up or vent blocked. both would cause overheating mine stays warm but only just over skin temp
I had one from work that used to get uncomfortably hot if I worked with it on my lap for a long time. Might have been what MM suggested. It didn't pack-up or catch fire or anything.

hiya, i usually prop it up on 1inch rubber legs so plenty of air gets to it

i think the fan does still work...but perhaps its not coming on as often as it should?
im not sure it stays on constantly..
Mine's been on all evening, stuck my hand all round it, just over body heat. But fan going all the time.
Re check with HP , i had general email from hp customer support today to say mine is now, as of a recent update of models affected included in the dodgy ones. Bit of a joke really seen as i have phoned many many times in recent months about mine getting so hot you could not touch it,followed by total product failure. There was never anyone that could help me available and i have lost count of the times i was told my call would be returned asap...... im still waiting. Good luck, hope you have a better response from them than i did. :-)
just realised u did not state yours was an HP if its not, just ignore me lol :-)
