a message keeps coming up " Hard drive initalisation fail". and it will not record. can anyone give me some advise please. many thanks

hard drive boot sector corrupt or drive damaged. you can usually get a new IDE drive easily, but they tend to use their own software so it might not be recognized if you sue a pc formatted one. best take it to a tv repair place and get a quote or see if someone is selling one on ebay.
