Im using windows xp on ntl broadband which i have had for a couple of months (so i am new to this stuff) but web pages dont seem to update for me. For example my friend has a website which he recently altered and told me to go there and have a look, i did this but it did not update for me. so we looked at it on our workplace pc which had his newly updated website in all its glory. I have managed to get around this by right clicking on the screen and then click refresh, but there must be a way to do it automaticaly. I've asked a couple of people but they don't seem to know what it could be. I would appreciate any answers on this subject. thankyou very much.

If im undertanding you right, go to Control Panel, Internet Options and select the General tab at the top. In the Temp. Internet Files, press the Settings button and choose your option for "Check for newer pages". You may need to restart internet explorer for this to take effect.

Hope this helps. All the best, PM

Make sure you empty your cache on a regular basis, from Tools on internet explorer, click Internet options, then on the General tab, delete/clear your cookies, temp internet files, history. Apart from hitting the refesh button, you can use the F5 key.

Thanks potatoman i did try this but my settings seem to be correct. "automaically check for newer pages" Is this correct?

Thanks Kev, i've tried this one before but to no avail. If you can think of anything else it would be much appreciated, cheers
You could try resetting IE to it's defaults.
Does this only happen when you select pages from your favourates menu? If so clear the favourates menu and start again.

Thanks snelson i will try that one.

I'm going back a while here, but try pressing shift and click on refresh on your browser toolbar. I think it forces your machine to look for the page from the server. If the provider has the old page on their proxy server I think this overides that and it should refresh their proxy server also.
This is old info. Perhaps it works differently now.
Does this only affect you, or do others have the same problem?

No bleriot, only happens to me (typical) haha.

The pc i use at work is set up the same as mine on internet options. Checks for newer pages "automaticaly" but updates fine. Im at a loss, but will try your way to see what happens. Thanks very much
