Can I transfer (download) emails from my POP3 yahoo account to my PC?

Have you tried using your yahoo account with say Outlook Express? You will need the POP3 address from Yahoo and then ask Outlook Express to retrieve emails from that address.
I agree with mistylady, use either Outlook express, or better, MS Outlook. The only info you'll need is the incoming and outgoing mail server hostnames (usually in the format mail.yahoo.com etc) or even their ip addresses. You'll also have to throw in your username:password for Outlook to pass on to the server. You have have mail from many many many many accounts all downloaded for you to read centrally in outlook, you can keep it for as long as you like (no mailbox full limit messages), back it up as often as you like and so on.
