I have an ipod touch and at xmas my daughter dowloaded all her music on her computer in to it
If I want to add to this, from my own computer. will i loseeall that has been downloaded already?

The iTunes sync feature is basically one-way. It will copy anything that's in your iTunes library on your computer onto the iPod.

If the library is empty, then your iPod will become empty.

The solution is to first copy the music from your daughter's machine onto your own computer, to populate your library. Then sync the iPod. It'll replace all the files on it, but you'll still have all the same music in the end.
One iPod can sync with only one iTunes library, once you sync your iPod to other computer iTunes, you will lost your all your files on your iPod. But you may try this ipod transfer, it's a nice iTunes alternative that can help you sync music and video to iPod, it will not delete your existing files on iPod, so you will not lost iPod files even you switch to new computer, you can also use it to copy music and video from ipod to computer for backup.
