Laptop overheating

What could be causing it. After 5 mins the fan kicks in and hardly ever stops. It's SO noisy too, which is annoying !!

Sounds like it's overheating.

Are the fans unobstructed? If so, how old is it?

If it's getting on a bit, there may be lots of fluff and dust in the the vents leading away from the processor.

I had a similar problem some months ago. I took the laptop to bits and found that there was a huge amount of dust and gunk in the vents that could not be seen from the outside. After cleaning and reassembly it was fine.

Thanks Bird, I think it's fairly old actually, but I'like to try the cleaning thing you mentioned. How do u take one to bits, and into how many bits ?
Also, you can buy cooling mats to put underneath them, and they work. x
no need to take to bits

just use the hoover attachment over fan grille and give it a good suck
It could be dusty inside the laptop. You should clean out the dust. If you can try these things:
