I need to use the TV & freesat box to listen to Radio6. Is there any way of switching the screen off whilst I'm listening?

Depends on your tv. What make and model is it? What do you see when you have that channel on?

Probably not with a seperate TV and freeview box (some TV's with built in freeview you can)

you can turn the brightness and contrast right down, or connect the freeview box to an external stereo and then the TV doesn't even need to be on.
