Right click X

I am on a Network. My pc was recently changed and I am now on XP. (Previously 2000 professional) When opening emails before, I used to get a red X and it told you to right click to display properly, now I get links all over the document instead. Any ideas how I change it to right click option please?

open the fiels and right click on it

go to the properties and change the format of the open with .

set the format as documents.

type the link correctly.

go to the internet explorer in the advanced tab

restore the default settings.so that the problem might be fix.
