Getting a google search as an answer to a question

Not so much of a question but just sharing a frustration when you ask a question and someone comes back saying "just google it".
Is it not implied that if you are using the computer then you know how to google and therefore the person asking the question is looking for a specific site or a personal opinion?

That drives me up the wall as well, Shivvy.
Often choosing the correct search terms requires a bit of lateral thinking. For example, if someone wants to know the dates of school holidays on a certain county, searching for 'school holidays', with the name of the county, will probably bring up loads of travel companies offering school holiday breaks, holiday play schemes in that area, etc. What it's unlikely to do is to quickly find the actual dates of the holidays. The trick is to search for "term dates" (including the double quote marks), together with the name of the county.

Often there are questions on here that you can simply copy and paste the question into google and the first "hit" gives you the answer, on those I do sometimes think "have you even tried to do this yourself"
But then other questions may seem obvious at first look, but you find a lot of dead ends when "googling it". Formatting a decent web search is actually not as easy as some would think for some subjects, and I've often had to resort to using boolean search strings to get results.

If it is 'What country is the Eiffel Tower in?' then yes - I do wonder why the questioner hasn't googled.
In the 'music' section many questions are 'What song has the words.....'. Googling the words and adding - lyrics will bring up the answer.
Many questions can't be answered by googling though but the poster should make his question clear so the reader knows the type of answer required.

Drives me INSANE seeing the answer in a web link. ANYONE can google, so why ask someone else to do it.
I have often answered a question by giving a lead word and then say "Google" it.
I would have thought that personal knowledge or experience is what is needed, NOT web sites or answers that have obviously been Googled.
