Got to:

http://www.123reg.co.uk and register it there.

A .co.uk address will cost you around 6 for 2 years.
Buy your domain name from the internet site. The registrar for domains sends you a certificate (thru snail-mail) with instructions & passwords to open & upload to your site.

Buying domains are cheap for first two years.....re-registration is exorbitant.
If you renew them in time, it's still 6.
I agree. https://www.123-reg.co.uk/ is where I got my.co.uk domain from.

And it costs no more for subsequent 2 year periods than it did for the initial 2 years.

Seems cheap enough. Do they do anything for this annual fee?
The fee is for the global register.
