I know how I'd have done this, but....

If I have the same track on my ipod, but in multiple playlists, is it actually stored multiple times on the ipod or just once?

Thanks

I've been sitting here trying to decide if this is a serious question - I decided to give you the benefit of the doubt :)

It's a "music player" - if you can remember them, think Walkman

But now imagine a Walkman that can hold the contents of HUNDREDS of CDs and lets you play any and all of them at any time

Now you have the idea

If you travel a lot and like music, they're invaluable

See www.ipod.com (and many MANY other places!)

thank you phil g, it was a genuine question, not all of us are 'up to speed' as they say, your reply is most appreciated, Prudentia xxx
You have the track only once (unless you have downloaded it more than once, perhaps in different compilation albums).

The playlist is just a sequence of playing the tracks on your ipod - there are no actual tracks in your playlist, just an order to play them.

Thanks Ethel,

That's what I'd hoped

BUT, I also notice that if I build a playlist on iTunes that contains tracks that are NOT on my iPod, they do get downloaded when I sync the playlist....

That's why I wondered
