Ref DVDs and recording !!!!

Hi Guys
Hope I am in the right catagory !!!!
I have purchased a DVD recorder and now need Rewritable DVDs
I have been to 32 shops and the Assistants have been unhelpful ..... here the question
The longest amount of time for recoding it seems is 120 Minutes ... wonderful but if I want to tape a film they are always over 2.5 hours long ... do i then need to use 2 DVDs ( t=as they said in shop ) but that seems silly to me ... or are there different recoding qualities where I can fit more on a DVD ????

My DVD recorder (Panasonic) has a 1 hour mode (best quality).

Then 2 hour, 4 hour and finally 8 hour (lowest quality)

I am surprised you needed to visit 32 shops (if that is true), you can almost certainly find out this sort of information on the web without needing to ask untrained staff in shops.

Read your recorder manual to find out which type of media your machine requires - they are not all the same.

Buy 8x or better quality branded disks - there are plenty of online suppliers on the net,- just search for the type of disk your recorder needs, and look at the prices / delivery options

Am I right in assuming you mean a DVD Recoder for the TV? Mine (like VHGs is a Panasonic) has several levels of recording onto disc whereby the quality is reduced so as the film fits onto one disc.

you cant TAPE a film now! you record it! no tape just discs, i suppose you could disc it but that sounds silly!!!!!!
