Answerbank and IE8

Anyone tried Internet Explorer 8 Beta yet? Just tried it today but Answerbank seems to need to be run in 'Compatibility Mode' otherwise there isn't a scroll down bar.

I've been using it for a while now, but always in compatibility mode. This is true of a number of other sites, particularly where sign-on is required.
It does make you wonder what Microsoft think that all the rest of the world is doing wrong that they should make things work in this way!!
Yeah it makes you wonder what the other mode is - Incompatibility mode? and incompatible with what - the Internet?
It's nice to know that I'm not the only one that has had these problems and that wonders what the h*ll Microsoft are doing !!
I did try Google Chrome for a while, but had even more problems. Might revert to FireFox, and see if that has improved.
What do you mean "to see if thats improved"

Firefox has been the best, fastest, most secure and stable browser for a long time.

Keep in mind that if there is something you don't like about firefox then there is probably an add-on to change it.

What they are doing is offering a Beta version. That is a version which is not intended as a finished product, but as a test of the current in-development product, in order to discover and iron out the bugs. If you decide to install Beta software, you can't really complain when it doesn't work properly.
Do you know what follows beta testing ?

Beta retreat !!
it's like giving a baby matches to play with ... in a box made of razor blades.

oh boy ;-)

having said that... better their machine than mine

Thanks folks - just what I was thinking - how come Microsoft can't be compatible with the rest of the Internet.

A word of warning. If you try IE8 and then don't like it, DO NOT USE SYSTEM RESTORE to go back to IE7.

You must UNINSTALL IE8 to go back.

I didn't do that and got one h*ll of a mess. IE7 just wouldn't work! Luckily I had another browser (Firefox) which allowed me to download IE7 and find out how to uninstall IE7 before re-installing it.

One word of warning to Firefox users though see this link:-

For now, I'll stick with IE7 (doh!) even though I occasionally use Firefox and have dablled with Google Chrome.

PS. IE8 did seem to be faster than IE7.

PPS. Nice one Big Dave!!!
I wouldn't touch any Microsoft beta with a barge pole. I don't like having to use Internet Explorer at work, I find it clunky and just not nice.

I've been a Firefox user since 2004
