I have a Sony Vaio laptop but over the last couple of days the screen has become more and more dull and difficult to read from/use.
I have tried looking at the display settings, the power management and anything else I can think of but it doesn't seem to help.
Has anyone got any ideas what I could do to improve it?
Thanks.

hold down the fn key and press f6 (it should have a little pic of a sun and a plus sign next to it)

if that doesn't increase the brightness then the backlight (or the inverter that powers it) may be on it's way out

Hey Chuck you are a superstar!
The fn and f6 worked a treat - I have to wear shades when I'm looking at the screen now!
same but using f5 to reduce the brightness :)
