I can't open a PDF any more..

well they used to open, and now they don't. I'm asked what application I want to open the document with, and just ended up downloading Adobe (which I'm sure I already have).. but it's still not opening.

any ideas? thanks :o)

hmmm.. OK I really should read the question fiirst :)

reinstalling adobe reader really should sort it though. try again with the link above, adobe make lots of products so you may have downloaded the wring adobe product

thanks Chuckie, but it didn't work. it's still asking what "program" to use to open it. it's downloaded okay. do I just need to pick a programme from the list of options?

if you can see adobe reader in the list then yes, and click the always use this program option at the bottom too.

But installing the reader really should have re set the file associations

Adobe isn't on the list :o(

I'm sure I installed an Adobe update a few weeks ago, it's obviously not happy!

a reboot never hurts

If it still doesn't work try going to the control panel and add remove programs and see if adobe reader is in the list... if it is remove it and then reinstall again.

I did as you said, Chuck, rebooted, tried again, didn't work, removed the existing Adobe and re-downloaded.. and hey presto...........

it worked. woo hoo!!
