Bush freeview and universal remote connectivity problems

how do i get my 'One for all' URC-8308 (universal remotecontrol) to connect with my 'Bush DFTA16' freeview box?

i had it working with the 'mico' freeview box i had and it works with my tv, i know how to program in the codes for it to work but it just doesnt seem to want to work properly.

i have also tried the search function on the remote but alas, no joy except for it working a little. as in the power button turns it to channel three.... not ideal really. kinda cryptic id say.

if any one has any solutions let me know pleease, why have the universal remote if it only works with my tv!?
