Contract Sim card in a Pay as You Go Handset (Orange)

In relation to my last question about a cheap handset only mobile as mine has just packed in... If I buy an Orange Pay As You Go Handset with credit, will I be able to use my own contract pay monthly sim card in it?

But, I thought I could perhaps buy a PAYG Orange phone with airtime and when that's done use my contract sim in it - I am still in the contract until mext March!
