Acer Aspire 5920 Laptop web cam

My wife has just bought the above lap top but she cannot switch on the web camera. Has any one got any ideas while she is waiting for a reply from Acer Computers. I say she should go back to the retailer, she reckons she'll have better kuck with the manufacturer.

What does it say in the manual?

Press the windows key (between Alt and Ctrl) and the pause/break key (top right) together.

Hardware - device manager

Scroll down the list until you find web cam. Click on that.

Is it enabled? If not, enable it. If it is, troubleshoot

will give that a go, but I think she has already done via a different route

Just a thought, has she switched it on within the relevnant application settings - MSN, Skype, whatever she is using?

Acer don't install any software for the camera, the drivers are installed so it will work in any other software that supports webcams such as MSN or skype.

You can install yawcam to test it and play about with it

I have e-mailed your suggestions to 'eh indoors and will let you know how how she gets on.
Even Acer haven't suggested what you two have. If it works, you'll both get a ceeeegar!
