I am having trouble in reconciling the answers previously given to 50d, in that whilst CODEX & CODEC appear in various dictionaries, none of them define either word as an "Official List of Medicines" Does anyone have any other suggestions, or a source of verification of either CODEC or CODEX.

To date I am stumped !!

Any letters to help us help you? Is it a crossword or what? I suggested Mims Directory which contains prescription medicines and is used by GPs.
The answer is CODEX.
Sorry - should have said this is confirmed by the OED.
I got this from the Free Dictionary website -

codex - an official list of chemicals or medicines etc.
codex "plural codices" can be checked in The Oxford Dictionary of Difficult Words just by googling "official list of medicines" Doh! What a waste of time asking here.
