Is there any backup programs that will backup your system to CD/DVD then when it all gose Pete Tong you auto boot from the back format your hard disc then restore your system. The idea being that you don't have to reinstall windows then the backup software then the backup.

Look into Norton Ghost. What PC mag testers do is to do a Windows clean install on a system, then install any relevant software that they always have on there. Then create a Ghost image. Now anytime they want to get back to a clean system, they format the C drive and copy over the ghost image. Just like new! I've done this with my PC but I've never had to use it yet thankfully. It took me 3 CDRs to backup a basic XP pro installation with all the right drivers updated. It wouldn't burn to DVD for some reason. (By the way, I'm not a pc mag tester so if they want to tell me I'm wrong, I'll take it!)
