I need to reinstall Windows XP on my pc but I dont have the disc for it. I purchased my Acer from ebuyer.com last xmas and it came with Windows XP already installed but no separate disc with a copy. Is this normal?
Now that I need toreinstall it I dont know what to do. A friend has given me her 2003 xp version with the key to install, but Im not sure if it will work or perhaps cause more problems?
Whats the best thing to do?

It is normal for Acer PC's and Laptops not to have an actual Windows Disc. I used the the system restore option in Accessiries>System Tools, to restore my laptop to its original settings. Also, if your PC has Acer EManager, I think it is possible to a restore there, but I am not 100% sure.
Ok, I just checked my Acer Laptop and eMangager does have an option to reset to factory settings.

On your keyboard there should be a button somewhere which has an 'e' on it, press this and it will open eManager.Select the Acer eRecovery option and simply follow the instuctions. It may be worth clicking on the help option (the question mark in the top right corner after you have pressed the eRecovery option) just to get an idea of what happens.
If you have the handbook that came with pc it should give more directions. XP is prob on a hidden partition - click start , r'click my computer-click manage-select disk management and you will see the two partitions.
There is a full guide on the hard drive -

Start - all programs - Acer System - User guide.

It is excellent.
Usually repeatedly pressing F10 on startup will cause Windows to reinstall if it on a partition of your hardrive.
