pentax digital camera audio recorder ????

I got a Pentax Optio digital camera (sub compact) and it has an audio recorder option on it . I have used it to record voice and downloaded onto my computer...and it is playable on windows media player and quicktime....but I want to edit it in Audacity ...but audacity says it cant recognise the file type??? the file type is a WAV....I then tried to import as raw data , as suggested by audacity after failing to recognise the file type... but it just sounds like a high pitched warble.....can anyone help?
