I have a friend who wants to buy my old laptop (Packard Bell 500mhz, 60mb, 6gb, windows 98se), but I don't know how much I should ask for (I am planning to do a master reinstall from the cds)? She doesn't want a brand new machine, just a typewriter and internet machine!!! Any (serious) ideas?

p>It depends on

  1. How good a friend she is

  2. How much you would sell it for to someone you don't know

  3. What damage etc it has suffered

  4. What prices are in the local small ads

Personally I would definitely have loved to pay around 300 for your laptop
but I had to settle for a new one as the second hand market is iffy in my area.

Around 300-400 I would say is about right.

Check out ebay for similar and adjust to your friendship needs.

I'd probably pay about 250 considering the market at the moment. The amount of RAM is a disappointing feature which brings the price down, but apart from that it seems fine, especially as a typewriter/internet machine!

But banana brings up a good point, how good a friend is she? :-)

well,

A good enough friend that I don't really wanna be ripping her off!

Seriously though, I just wanted to know a decent price, 400 seems quite a high price to my mind, 200-300 seems better.

Thanks guys!

Mike
