Broadband with a router connection

My daughter is about to cancel her cable telephone and broadband connection. She is reverting to BT and TalkTalk broadband. She has 3 computers linked by a router which at present works very well. She has been told by a 'friend' that this system will not be successful with TalkTalk. Has she been misinformed? Please help. Thank you in advance.

A router for CABLE (Virgin Media / NTL / Telewest) will NOT work on a "normal" BT telephone line.

You need to buy an ASDL router.

If you see this page from PC World, the routers (top left) are divided into ASDL routers and Cable Routers

vehelpfulguy: Thank you for your swift answer. That will solve the problem, plus a filter in the telephone socket.
