i need to buy a digital camera fairly soon. I assumed that getting one with a rechargable lithium battery was the best option, but having read product info of diff cameras it seems that AA ni-mh batteries last longer on a charge.
Is thhis right or am i being mislead by manufacturers stats?
I'm looking at cameras around 100 with 7megapixels & over, -if anyone has any recomendations or features I should look out for that would b great.

many thanks

I have the Samsung DigimaxA7 camera and I use Uniross recharable 2500mah barreries.Comes complete with charger and 4 batteries aroung 25 and charges batteries in less than 4 hours.I use my camera quite a lot and found these very good.Hope this helps.
I like using rechargeable AA cells. If you look around, you can get hold of them really cheaply (compared with buying spare lithium batteries). Additionally, if you do happen to find that you've used up all of the charged batteries you've got with you, you can just nip into any newsagent or corner shop and buy some Duracell batteries.

"7 megapixels & over"? Just how big do you want your enlargements? You won't be able to notice any improvement in picture quality, at A4 size, much above 3 Mp. Forget about looking for lots of megapixels; go for a camera with a decent optical zoom.

Look at the Pentax Optio M20 7.2Megapixels and decent price Ebay is a good source, agreed NiMh batteries AA good investment.

hi solera, what a coincidence! - i was looking at buying the pentax A20 before i realised about the lithium battery situation, then i started looking at the M20 as a good alternative.

The value of a high megapixel camera is firstly that you can zoom into parts of a picture on a pc without loosing quality & cut them as a picture, & secondly if you view your pictures on a dvd, 3megapixels looks naff on a big screen tv.
