Hi Guys

Do i leave my router on after turning my pc off, thus leaving it running all night and day, or do I turn it off when its not used?

If I leave it when my pc is off, will anything be downloaded/uploaded thus affecting my monthly usage??

Cheers guys!

It doesn't matter whether your router is on or off. It can only transfer information when a computer is connected to it. It will not affect your monthly useage.
If you have a wireless router (which most seem to be) and it is unencrypted then it is very possible that someone may connect to it (eg next door neighbour).

Either make sure you encrypt the wifi, turn off the wifi (if you don't use it) or turn off the router when not in use.

will turning it off stop it from settliing in and determining its maximum speed?

BT told me that it takes a few days for the new broadband line to settle and find its maximum - will turning the route off stop this from happening?
