1000mb = 1 gb
Sorry Ethel but the answer is actually 1024 Mb.

For the general public it is acceptable to think of it as being 1000, but for school or college you need to know the exact number which is 1024

This strange number arises becaise computers use binary numbers and 2 to the power 10 = 1024
Depends who you ask.

If you buy a 80g hard drive, you'll probably get 80 x 1000 mb which is technically only just over 78g.

Both definitions are widely used which can cause confusion, but 1024 is the correct one.
