Has anybody else had an automatic update for XP from MS called the "Windows Genuine Advantage Notification" (KB905474)

They supply details of it here: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=39157

Basically this sends details of your computer back to Microsoft with details of the MS operating system you are using and if it is not genuine, keeps nagging you to correct it. However, I have seen reports of a number of people who have genuine XP installations and it keeps crashing their PC's. There is also a suggestion on another site from an IT guy that it also slows down your XP to persuade you to upgrade to Vista.

Anybody had any problems with it?

This has been available for months and has been discussed on this website before.

Hardly crafty as all they are doing is protectinf their property.

There has been some reports of genuine copies being flagged as pirate copies.

There is no chance MS would make the code slow XP down as if this got out it would be a disaster for them.
OMG! I just had that notification question a while ago, it came back saying my XP was not genuine,(which i'm aware is not), and asking me to upgrade my version of XP and quoted me 90 odd pounds. When i declined and came out of that window i noticed that when i put in a search on Google, the results come up in really small writing. The Taskbar is unaffected.

Now i'm trying to figure out how to change this.
