How annoying!

This is not a question, but more of a comment on Yourcalls.net. I recently changed from BT to Yourcalls.net, based on the fact that the 9.99 line rental was cheaper than BT.

However, on receiving my first bills I noticed that they are charging me 1.50 for caller display. I do not recall ever agreeing to this extra charge and cannot find any mention of it on their website.

The current BT line rental is 10.75, including caller display. The Yourcalls.net charge including caller display is 11.49 and therefore more expensive than BT.

However, Yourcalls.net does include free weekend calls at that price, which is some compensation I suppose.

It seems a lot of bother to move from BT at 10.75 to yourcalls at 9.99, just to save 76p.

Surely you can find some other way of saving 76p, like buying two less newspapers or bars of chocolate a week.

Anyway, shows you should read the small print.

Yes, but BT used to be 11.99... and actually changing phone companies is not really much bother - just filling in a form on a website.
Punish them for being deceitful. Move again.

Use someone like moneysupermarket or uswitch to find the best deal.

I do broadband and all calls for 19.99 at Tiscali, but still have to pay BT line rental

Here's the reply from Yourcalls.net:

"Yourcalls.net do charge for the caller display service as do all other Service Providers, only BT offer the service free of charge. Details of the charge are not currently shown on the website and we are looking at either updating the information on the website or detailing the charge in the welcome letter which is issued prior to the transfer going through.
I can only apologise that you were not made aware of this charge prior to the transfer but unfortunately we are unable to offer this service free of charge."
