My laptop is a couple of years old now, and pretty full up with songs, photos etc. However it has started to slow up a lot more of late.

Does anybody have any suggestions of things I can do to rejuvenate this machine?

how much memory does it have ? ( the RAM ) ?
you can find that in control panel -> performance and maintenance -> system

If you haven't already done so, run a defragmentation. Be warned tho, you need a certain amount of free space in order to do this.

Have you cleared your cache, cookies and temp files?

Defragged?

Run your antispyware programmes?

How much free space do you have on your hard disk?

Thanks for these answers, I have not defragged at all yet. I have been using the Windows defender spyware program.

Also haven't cleared the cache, cookies, temp files, as I don't know how to.

I have just under 5 gigs free on the hard drive.
