About 10 days ago I allowed I E 7 to be downloaded on my laptop. I do NOT like the lay-out but might get used to it.! In the meantime I have discovered that my Outlook Express emailing (which was part of IE6 I think) has disappeared along with IE6 I know this sounds stupid but I can't find it anywhere and if it has gone.... how do I get it back? It is still listed as my dedicated email prog under "Tools" etc
Will I have to set up the account all over again?
Sorry to be so dense...it's maybe just the aftermath of Xmas!! Many thanks in advance and Happy Festives to all ABers!

Ethel...you are a star! Been there..done that and ...have read my post! Bless you for that. So simple when you know how! I don't use OE much but it is handy to have as a back-up. I must say the new IE7 is NOT user friendly for us OAP novices....the lay-out is not very clear ...and I have missed some bits. NOW, thanks to you, Ethel, I can maybe "Do It My Way"!! Happy New Year when it comes!
Yours aye,

personally i love ie7 with the tabbed browsing.altho it does take a while to get used to utilising the tabs.

Yes, Mattk...it WILL take some time to get used to all the knobs and whistles and personally I really don't need 'em.
I had this new-fangled version wished upon me and I liked the faster IE6 ...a common complaint I gather...and the lay-out was simpler...for simple old minds I guess! I have just discovered that this new version is somehow interfering with my downloading my "Audible" books. as well....but that is another matter which I hope "Audible" can sort out for me. It is proving to be "one of those days" !!
Thanks for all input...gratefully received.. AnswerBank never fails!

If you really don't like IE7 it can safely be uninstalled in the usual add/remove programmes way - IE6 will automatically be reinstated exactly as it was.

To stop the automatic update you can run this tool (after uninstalling IE7)

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.asp x?********=4516A6F7-5D44-482B-9DBD-869B4A90159 C&displaylang=en

But I do feel it is worth persevering with. You could revert back to IE6, open a guest account on your pc and install IE7 there just so that you can get used to it in your own time, while using IE6 for the things you must do.

You are full of brilliant ideas! I may well do that as I do not like to be beaten at the first hurdle! Luckily Audible too was able to solve my other problem...it WAS IE7 that caused it. You learn something new every day ...this ain't no learning "curve" ..it's a veritable ladder! I'm off to learn more...Thanks again, Ethel.
the link doesnt work ethel.
if you could re-post a working link it would be much appreciated as the software we use at work doesnt work too well with the ie7 update but i keep getting prompted to install it !
Very odd - apologies for broken link. Try this:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.asp x?********=4516A6F7-5D44-482B-9DBD-869B4A90159 C&displaylang=en

If that link also fails, google

disable automatic delivery of IE7

And you will find it.
The download you requested is unavailable. If you continue to see this message when trying to access this download, go to the "Search for a Download" area on the Download Center home page.

thanks anyway...i'll google it as you suggested.
G'Day

Mattk first: here is the link Ethel was trying to give you http://tinyurl.com/j6rfs or you can just substitute "********" for the "*********" in Ethels' link.

Ethel & Mattk: AB seems to find the string "********" in links offensive for some reason. What I do is just goto http://tinyurl.com and paste the link in, Tinyurl will create a short link which will work - as above.

I will try again; the 8 *s in Ethels link need to be replaced with Family followed immediately by ID (no spaces). I just wish AB would fix this problem.
