Unplug the USB device (ie it is not connected to your PC), remove all traces of the driver/applications that came shipped with it using add/remove program in the control panel. Delete any profgram folders associated with the device in c:\program files. If you have to extract the driver installation to a folder make sure it is an obvious folder (eg c:\thomson) Run the setup again and only plug the USB device back in when prompted or there is no other alternative. If you had to extract the driver installation files to a folder and the setup goes through the "found new hardware" wizard, point it to the folder you have created which contains the driver (eg c:\thomson).
