internet explorer problem

every so often when i am on the net, a box appears saying Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to shut down. then it asks if i want to notify them of the problem. why is this happening and what should i do ?

Assuming you are using Windows XP:

1. Click Start, click Run, and then type sysdm.cpl in the Open box.
2. Click Advanced, and then click Error Reporting.
3. Click Disable error reporting to disable both user and kernel-mode error reporting, or click to clear the Programs check box.
4. Click OK two times.
That's a very useful tip Ethel. No side effects I hope?
That simply cancels the error reporting which MS depend upon to find out why IE has shut down.
It does not cure the fault you have with IE which may be corrupt.
Maybe reporting it might help them fix the problem?
