Emptying DVD-RAM

If there's anybody else out there that uses a DVD-RAM Recorder to "tape" straight off the telly, have they had any success trying to empty the disks to another format, e.g. another DVD (via a PC), HDD, ISO??

I've run out of disks in the same way we all ran out of VHS (and probably Beta Max, but I'm not that old! :) and want to extract the programs to watch on either my PC or a DVD+R or something similar.

I know theres some kind of write protection on it, but not how to get round it. A straight copy just makes my DVD complain its "unsupported".

Probably would be a good time to say, I'm not trying to become a huge dealer in TV piracy, i'm just too tight to pay for more disks!

Any thoughts, much appreciated!
