Any advice on why my P C overheats 40c & crashes when I am using an interactive C D ( Excel Tutor) yet when I use MSOffice 2000 on my hard drive the temp remains stable @ 26/32C and does not crash. Its taking me ages to complete the assessment stage. Thanks Cyrilbiker

One assumes your CD drive is getting hot using the interactive CD, but the heat is not being dissipated very well.

Make sure there is plenty of room round the back of your PC.

Ensure there is no dust or fluff round the fans and heat sink inside the case.

Make sure all the fans are working (and not covered in dust)

Make sure the air can move freely around the inside of your case and is not obscured by cables etc.

If you have fitted the CD drive yourself, is it in a slot near the top of the case. Try moving it to a different slot in the case, so it has space above and below it.

Thanks for that Mr *helpfulguy, The CD drive is in the slot so I will move that into a vacant one below. Have checked the rest of your suggestions and made slight ajustments to aloow greater movement of air. Cheers
