Thinking of buying an alba dvd62 player from Argos - is it worth buying? It's really cheap and it's for a present. Will it play dvd+r recorded dvds?

ALBA?..............forget it. Nothing good to say about this stuff. I had a DVD recorder FREE from a daily news paper and .....it wasn't worth it......... it worked for about a week then died..............

To give one as a present would be IMHO an insult. :-(
I agree with commoner.

You do not say what the price is but for a few pounds more you can probably get a quality make like Sony or Toshiba.

Most of these cheap brands go through no quality control, they just buld them and ship them. If a percentage dont work they just exchange them and throw the broken one away..

I got a CHEAPY from Lidl last year (19.95 for aDVD player with built in card readers !!) - that works a treat
So you pays your money and keeps your fingers crossed
I would say - try it - you can always return it in 11 months 3 days time for a refund !!!!
