burning films onto disk

i have downloaded a movie and i want to be able to get it onto a disk, i have used the program nero, it starts ok and transcodes the film and everything it is supposed to do, but when it comes to burning the film onto the disk it freezes when it is writing tracks and it has done it 3 or 4 times now and does it at the same spot everytime can someone help me please

are you trying to burn as a dvd? have you got a dvd writer and dvd discs (rather than cd writer and/or discs)
