My printer has been working ok but now suddenly will not print at all and comes up with the error message. Error writing to LPT1 Please make sure all cables are connected, power on etc. Everything seems connected ok. How can this be resolved. Simple solution as not a computer whizz !! Printer is an Epson stylus colour 580, using Windows 98

Tried rebooting the machine, that seems to fix a lot of problems in Windows 98, especially because your using LPT1 and not a USB port.
Hiya Yorkie

If all the lights are flashing and the printer will not function try this reset sequence: hold-down the ink button and paper feed button while turning-on the machine. Hold for 10 seconds and release. Then hold down the ink button until all lights start flashing and release.

It worked for me.
