Internet Explorer Icon

Does anyone know how to show the Internet Explorer 6 logo on the desktop? Using XP and have gone Desktop>Properties>Desktop>Customize Desktop and the Internet Explorer checkbox IS checked but it's not showing on the desktop! Any ideas?

close all windows, go to start,all programs, right click on IE icon , click on create short cut then left click hold down and drag created icon to desktop

alternatively you can do as bill107 says but when you go into start>programmes, right click on Internet exploer icon and then select Send to Desktop (create shortcut) - same end result.

Cheers for the replies. However, I am after the icon that allows you to change the Internet Options when you right click on it. If I do the above all I get is the properties of that icon. I have had the icon that allows you to do this but this isn't showing. The answers given are useful but it's the wrong icon I'm after. Any ideas?
