Computer display gone blurry and icons out of proportion.

These symptons suddenly appeared on my computer when I started it up a few days ago and haven't gone away.

Only the display seems to be affected.
The colours of my usual screens have changed and gone blurry; what used to be solid colours are now blurry different-coloured lines.
Many of the icons and pages that I regularly use have gone out of proportion.
There are some examples of inverse-video appearing.
The machine is still usable but awkward.

Any suggestions?

Have you tried a system restore?
Question Author
How do I do a system restore?
go to --start/all programs/accessories/system tools/system restore--when it starts up choose restore my system to an earlier date--then choose a date b4 ur problem was noted
Question Author
I don't have that option, 'system restore' is not on the list from 'system tools'.
Unlikely, but is the monitor cable securely attached to the monitor output of the PC ?
Question Author
Yes.
Are you able to borrow another monitor to eliminate the monitor ?

Perhaps with the hot weather your graphics card has been overheating or is failing ?

Again, a known good monitor may prove/disprove this.

If your motherboard has a video output you could try that instead of the output from the graphics card to assist in the elimination process. This may need enabling in BIOS.
