How do I put my photos on a disc so that I can put it in the dvd to show as a slideshow, also can you add music while the pics are showing?

Unless you buy a commerciasl package for video editing like Premiere Elements, Serif Movie Plus, Pinnacle or ULEAD Movie Factory, have a look at Microsoft's free Powertoy:-

CD Slide Show Generator
With this PowerToy you can view images burned to a CD as a slide show. The Generator works downlevel on Windows 9x machines as well.

http://picasa.google.co.uk/
this photo program lets you create a slideshow too.
PS; the picasa program relies on jpeg stills so the player has to have the facility to play back photo files.
If you're on windows, as I assume you are, I can recommend Proshow Gold for this purpose:

If you're on a mac, then iPhoto and iDVD will do just what you want, and probably came with your mac.

Windows XP contains Windows Movie Maker. I've just used this to do something similar.

You can arrange your pictures on a timeline add fades and transitions add music add video clips etc.

You just have to remember to save it correctly! (I didn't the first time)

From the file menu you need to select "save movie file" having already saved your project using the "save" button.

And it's free.

Just realised that it might not play back on a DVD player. Haven't tried that. :(
