I am going to France on business soon and would like to be able to connect to the internet while i am there. My normal isp dial up number is a uk local rate number and is inaccessible from abroad. Any ideas where i can find a local French number to dial? Also where can i buy an adapter to convert the uk jack on my lead to fit the French socket - i have searched on the internet to no avail? Any help greatly appreciated!

Try signing up with UUNET http://www.worldcom.com/uunet/ as they will supply you with local telephone numbers to call where ever you are in the world. As for the second bit, you can try Maplin online http://www.maplin.co.uk or at the airport.

Thank you for trying to help, unfortunately worldcom did not want to know as they oonly deal with companies and not individuals. And Maplin do not stock such an adaptor. Any more ideas anyone?
Sorry about UUNET. The biggest ISP in France is Wanadoo (http://www.wanadoo.com) so you could try signing up with them. Also, try this site for French adapters (the USA plug is known as a RJ11 socket so you will need a RJ11 to RJ11 cable plus the USA to France adapter): http://www.euronetwork.co.uk/acatalog/TELEPHONE_AN
