A friend of mine has an iPod Nano and wants to transfer some of his MP3s to it. After he's connected it to his PC, he can transfer the files but when he disconnects it and tries to play them, the iPod Nano refuses to recognise them they don't show up at all on its display.
I don't have an iPod myself but I assume they can play MP3s as well as its own AAC format, so what's going on? Any help would be appreciated.

When he's connected the iPod to iTunes, does iTunes say that the update was successful?

fo3nix - Yes, the PC transfers the files ok, and they are shown in the library, but the iPod itself doesn't "see" them when it's disconnected from the PC. Can iPods play normal standard MP3s?

Yes it can. Next thing is to make sure the mp3s are properly named... do they all have album, artist, song title names?
