Epson r340 cartridges

just got myself the epson r340 printer very good by the way. if i use Non-Genuine cartridges would this damage the printer.

No. Companies wouldn't be allowed to sell
products that damaged other products. Thats just epson trying to get you hooked into buying their ink.

Although some epson printers are chipped and this will need to be over-written to allow the counterfeit cartridge work (the website to get the patch is usually listed on the package)

No, they won't do any harm but using them in the first year may well invalidate your guarantee.

I don't know what the cartridge configuration is for the r340, but I had a Stylus Photo 750, and a Stylus 640 before that, both of which used simple cartridges running ink through a head which was built in to the printer rather than the cartridge. After about 3 months of using non-genuine cartridges, in each case, one of the jets got blocked and no amount of cleaning would shift the blockage.


This may have been a coincidence, but my advice to anyone using a printer where the cartridges don't come with the head built in would be either to use genuine or to find a compatible with a very good reputation for that printer... no doubt Google will prove to be your friend here!
